The raw material stock levels at euskalforging, which, as described in the Material Grades section, consist of carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless steels, duplex steels and superalloys, are determined based on:
- Historical raw material consumption by grades and formats
- Future requirements identified by clients
euskalforging maintains an average stock level that covers several months of its standard production and has a system integrated into its ERP that enables it to maintain a permanent computerised inventory.
The materials that are consumed the most, both in continuous casting and in ingots, are restocked by means of control on safety stock, which is determined and reviewed according to market evolution. Furthermore, close communication with its clients allows euskalforging to anticipate the purchase of raw materials for projects that its clients are currently negotiating.
For the storage of its raw material stock, euskalforging has:
- Storage agreements in the municipalities of Irún, Pasajes and Santurtzi in Spain, and in Hendaye in south-west France
- 11,000 m² of its own warehouses
euskalforging also has production capacity reservation agreements with its suppliers, enabling it to quickly obtain materials for its clients’ urgent projects.
