Euskalforging to supply 42 foundation flanges for East Anglia wind farm

ScottishPower Renewables is leading East Anglia construction. The project consists of up to 102 Siemens wind turbines SWT-7.0-154 with a three legged jacket design foundation. Each turbine is rated at 7 MW giving a generating capacity of up to 714 MW.

The wind farm will be located in the North Sea and has an investment of £2.5 bn powering around 500.000 homes. An offshore substation platform will collect the electricity from the turbines and transfer it to shore thanks to two seabed export cables, each around 73 km in length. Up to six onshore underground cables, each of around 37 km in length, will be used to transfer the electricity from landfall to an onshore converter station.

 Under the terms of the contract, euskalforging will roll , heat treat , machine and deliver to the client 42 flanges with an outer diameter of ∅6.002 mm that will be integrated in the foundation.

 The project represents another milestone for euskalforging and reinforces its leadership in the offshore wind market after participating in more than 30 offshore wind farms in the last few years.
