Euskalforging to supply 71 foundation flanges for Hohe See wind farm

euskalforging, a world leading manufacturer of seamless rolled rings up to ∅10.000mm and 80Tn of input weight, with  turning, drilling and gear cutting capabilities and  three manufacturing plants in the North of Spain, has signed a contract with Sif Group to supply 71 flanges for the foundations for Hohe See.

The project consists of up to 71 Siemens wind turbines SWT-7.0-154 with a monopile design foundation. Each turbine is rated at 7 MW giving a generating capacity of up to 497 MW. The EPCI foundation contract has been assigned to GeoSea and Siemens.

The Hohe See wind farm, developed  by EnBW, will be located around 90 km north of the island of Borkum in the German North Sea covering an area of 42 square kilometres and is expected to generate around 2000 gigawatt hours of electricity for around 560,000 households.

Under the terms of the contract, euskalforging will fabricate and deliver to Sif Group 71 flanges that will be integrated in the foundation.  A spokesman of the company said: “The production will be adjusted to meet the customer needs thanks to euskalforging flexible manufacturing set up with regular deliveries to their facilities”.

The project represents another milestone for euskalforging and reinforces its technological leadership and project execution capabilities in the offshore wind market after participating in more than 30 offshore wind farms in the last few years.
