Euskalforging will ring roll a total of 52 flanges for monopile foundations for the Ecowende offshore wind farm. The flanges will be supplied to SIF, which will complete the fabrication of the wind turbine foundations, which have no transition pieces.
The Ecowende wind farm (Hollandse Kust (west) lot VI) will be located about 53 kilometres off the Dutch coast, near IJmuiden. With an installed capacity of approximately 760 MW, the wind farm will be able to generate enough renewable energy to meet around 3% of the current electricity demand in the Netherlands.
For Hollandse Kust (west) lot VI, ecological impact was included as an additional criterion in the assessment of the permit applications, which means that the design of this wind farm is nature-inclusive'. It includes measures and a design approach that will result in the project of wind farm developer Ecowende (a joint venture of Shell, Eneco and Chubu) having minimal impact on birds, bats and marine mammals. The aim of the project - and the tender process that led to it - is to enable the development of net positive offshore wind farms in the near future.
